Karibiyan Nou Yé…
On June 28th2019, the sound of hip hop and traditional drums reverbarated in Little Haiti Marketplace for a new Poetic Lakay. Hosted by Mecca aka Grimo, Poetic Lakay is a “monthly poetry/open mic event serving as a platform for all upcoming performing artists to express themselves through the arts – poetry, spoken-word, dance and music”. June being the Caribbean-American heritage month made this “Karibiyan Nou Yé” night even more special.
As usual, FLO shone a light on Guadeloupe, her island. With drummer djawentò ontògi and DJ Agent Fade on the decks, the female rapper performed a few songs of her debut album “A Long Time Coming”. The friendly atmosphere encouraged kids and adults to express their Caribbean soul as they sang and clapped along.
FLO keeps on using her art to promote a contemporary Caribbean culture with strong historical roots.
