July 28, 2019by admin

It might be hard to keep up with the vibrant dancehall/hip hop scene of Guadeloupe and Martinique. That’s why online music magazine The Backpackerz revealed its list of “the 10 French West Indian rappers to know” as of July 2019. Among famous artists like Kalash, Keros-N or veterans such as Maqflah, Ishango Sound, three women also get the spotlight. Just like Meryl and Meemee Nelzy, Flo gets to be recognized for her distinctive Caribbean soul.

From her days with her first crew Enigma (1998) to the release of her debut album “A Long Time Coming”, the site details some milestones of her career including her participation to the 2007 BET Hip-Hop Awards Cypher with skilled artists like Cassidy, Rass Kass, Joell Ortiz and DJ Premier. The article also mentions how the now Miami-based rapper also brings her art into her cultural activism to promote creole.
